Hey!
So it's THAT time of the year again. We're a rough 2 and a half weeks way from the Birthday of one of the most influential and inspiring people I know, Alyssa Milano. It's no secret, to people that know me, that I adore Alyssa, I have been a fan for years. She has inspired me for years and the reason for this blog post is one of the biggest reason, why I love her so very much.
Just like last year instead of asking for gifts from family, friends and fans, she has started a campaign that will benefit Charity water. Last year she raised $92,568 to bring clean water to almost 5,000 people, in mere weeks! This is something these 5000 people can enjoy for many years to come. And all because one kind soul, decided that instead of asking for self-serving gifts, she could just as well help someone else.
Her Birthday and her impact truly are the gifts that keep on giving. Over the years Alyssa has established a big following. The lifes she has impacted, directly or indirectly are too many to count. She inspires, she helps, she loves, she gives. She inspires fans to become better, she makes them see that we all have the innate ability to help no matter how big or small. And that many small contributions make up a big whole. Countless fans have been inspired to start their own campaigns for their birthdays or other occasions, for countless charities.
She's shown us over the years, that we're all part of the same family. We're all a part of humanity. No life is bigger or better than the other. She has led us all to this believe by leading by example. If you follow Alyssa on twitter you know that she interacts with everyone, no matter how big or small a follower-count they have. Whether they are celebrities, twitter-celebrities, fans or friends, she treats everyone as a part of her twitter family. Every single one of her 1,163,517 followers. She is, patient and gracious with the creepy/douchey-uncles of the (metaphorical) family, kind and loving with everyone else. She shows us that kindness is the way to go.
As I've said I've been a big fan for years. And it's her devotion to humanity, to making this life, this world better for all of us and her unconditional kindness and love, that has made her a Hero in my eyes. I've often said that she is the definition of grace and Earth-Angels, this is why. She adds meaning with her kindness, dedication and love every single day. One Random Act of Kindness, tweet or gesture at a time.
We all have choices to make and paths to follow. But I'd like to ask you all to please help this amazing woman on hers. If you can't donate, please retweet on twitter or share the link on facebook. If you can spare a little please do.
If not for Alyssa and honoring her, please do it for the thousands of people who don't have access to the most basic need of all, clean water. Clean water can help fight countless of unnessecary diseases/ the spreading of these diseases. And with that it can have a major impact on fighting poverty. The less people that fall to these diseases, the more strong and healthy people can help build a better future for their country, their children and grandchildren. Or as Alyssa put it:
"Water-borne illness is the second highest cause of childhood death in the world. When water is unsafe and sanitation non-existent, water can kill."
If not for that do it for me or for the spirit of the Holidays!
For her 38th Birthday Alyssa has made it a goal to raise 38000 dollars. I bet we can smash that goal again this year!

This is what I wrote last year on her Birthday wish:
http://jennylonussen.livejournal.com/52244.htmlA follow up on her Birthday wish last year:
http://www.alyssa.com/blog/best-birthday-present-ever/"..I got in touch with UNICEF and the organization appointed me a goodwill ambassador and sent me to Angola and India, where I got to meet a lot of children who were in really tough circumstances. But those kids had hope. They radiated hope. Visiting these countries made me realize that we're all the same. Humanity is all the same. The only things that separate us are the social and political struggles that happen to be occurring in the territories in which we happen to be born. If we're all the same, then poverty affects us all. Lack of education affects us all. But what binds us is hope. That's the strongest thing that connects us to each other, hope, even - and sometimes especially- when things seem hopeless" Alyssa Milano (Safe At Home: Confessions of a Baseball Fanatic)
I hope you're all well and I hope you'll have a beautiful holiday season with your loved ones! Thank you for reading, sharing and/or donating!
God Bless.
Love,
Jenny
